Who we are
We are a group of NGOs, representing different Egyptian governorates, working on enhancing women status, and alleviating all forms of discrimination against women in the context of the international human rights law.
Our Vision
A society free from discrimination for any reason, where women enjoy their full citizenship in a strong civil society led by the Egyptian CEDAW coalition.
Our Mission
Activate the implementation of CEDAW through influencing policies, legislations and socio-cultural contexts which discriminate against women, as we believe in equality, justice, teamwork and respect of human rights, through networking and close collaboration with civil society and all stakeholders.
Our Partners
All national, regional and international civil society organizations, which have a similar mandate.
Our Objectives
Activate CEDAW implementation; accelerate lifting reservations and adopting its optional protocol.
Our Strategies
1. Widening the base of NGOs working on CEDAW in all governorates.
2. Resource mobilization of CEDAW Coalition.
3. Communication, coordination and cooperation with all stakeholders.
4. Provide evidence based information on Egyptian woman status.
Our Mechanisms
1. Capacity building of the coalition members on international and regional mechanisms on women’s rights.
2. Increase and activate coalition membership.
3. Networking with national, regional and international initiatives on lifting reservations on CEDAW and adopting its optional protocol.
4. Working toward changing the public opinion and the attitudes of social actors towards women’s rights as an integral constituent of citizenship.
Our Activities
1. Issue publications, educational material and participate in media programs.
2. Establish website and electronic newsletter.
3. Prepare shadow report on CEDAW implementation in Egypt.
4. Conduct necessary studies on Egyptian women status.
5. Field monitoring of violation of women’s rights in Egypt.
6. Hold awareness raising seminars in different governorates.
7. Conduct training workshops to build capacities of NGOs.
8. Conduct national and regional conferences to exchange information and experiences.
9. Hold public events with the participation of youth from both sexes.
